Ballerinas

Little ballerina girls are one of the sweetest experiences of life. Chubby legs squished into tights, unsure ankles tiling in, vacant stares, nose picking, group hugging, and sweet poses. Evelyn epitomized all these things on Saturday and Sunday. Amelia looked so grown up next her sister, it was like a blast from the past, remembering Amelia during her first recital. Amelia and Evelyn were so excited to get ballet buns and full costume make up. Oh my heavens! Little darlings. Ella accompanied us to dress rehearsal. Evelyn went first to dance. She wiggled her bum in the cutest little way. After her dance we went out to the common area for photos. She refused to make eye contact with the photographer (an older gentleman). He was too scary. She finally agreed to look at him for 10 tic tacs and rice and beans. I guess in her mind I already took pretty photos (which, yes I did). Amelia and Katelyn rushed around amusing themselves. Ella found some girls from her school to chat with. Amelia's group did a cute Irish ballet, Mrs Margaret told them to not smile at all. I guess the Irish do not smile while dancing...ever. Hard to believe. You'd be hard pressed to find out Amelia had a major hip surgery just a year ago. She's come such a long way since that day.

Sunday I had the girls wear ballet buns and make up to church. After church I only had to touch up their hair and faces and helped them into costumes. Justin brought over the boys and Josie after lunch. Everett showed up wearing striped zippy PJs, a camo coat, and his feet stuffed into tennis shoes. He was a true little boy in that get up. I heard Phillip got pushed back by the wind when his coat filled with a gust of wind. He was carrying the flowers so they got thrown into the air as well. Jen sat with us to watch the recital. Of course, Josie pooped right before the recital. Jen offered to change her, somehow she dropped the wipes and diaper. I found the two stuck in the bathroom with poo smeared on the changing table and Josie helping to smear the poop. The girls danced beautifully. We all laughed when Evelyn started to dig in the nose for a nasty nooger. After the recital Mrs Margaret invited everyone out to the commons area for treats. This was her 25th year of teaching dance in Sidney. Glad that weekend is over. No more ballet until September now.
