I finally caught up with the blog at least...had to finish out this week since the last entry was through Thursday the 6th. The missionaries joined us for a meal Friday night. Amelia was gone babysitting so she missed out, like totally missed out. I made savory and sweet crepes for dinner. We had warm crepes, turkey, bacon, cheese, scrambled eggs, and the usual sweet toppings. I'm guessing we plowed through at least 40 crepes! Yum. Everett challenged one of the Elders to a game of chess. Everett whooped the Elder, the game was declared a draw just because we ran out of time. The Elders left us with a message about this week's Come Follow Me lesson. A couple aspects of this week's lesson really stuck with me:
1. Hebrew word for day is Yom, which rather denotes a period of light or time
2. Elder Maxwell: "Therefore, in the expansiveness of space, there is stunning personalness, for God knows and loves each of us! (See 1 Nephi 11:17). We are not ciphers in unexplained space! While the Psalmist’s query was, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?” (Psalm 8:4), mankind is at the very center of God’s work. We are the sheep of His hand and the people of His pasture (See Psalms 79:13; 95:7; 100:3). His work includes our immortalization—accomplished by Christ’s glorious Atonement! Think of it, brothers and sisters, even with their extensive longevity, stars are not immortal, but you are."
3. It's not as important to dissect the creations periods, rather study and enjoy the wonder of creation.
Last Sunday we assembled our OT scripture journals for the month. I got some new notebooks to use this year. Each month we can add a handout for each week to remind us of what we learned during Temple Table. I am very excited about this week's lesson on Adam and Eve. I've learned some fun, intriguing information from Robin Young. She taught a couple classes last week about the lineage of Joseph of Egypt. Her findings closely correlate with what I felt in Cairo and on the Nile cruise. It's fun to learn and grow.
Saturday I started to deconstruct Christmas. I asked for help but the only help that came was the boys bringing in the Christmas bins and the kids stuffing a couple navitivies away. The house is a terrible mess. BUT I am excited about the blank wall in the front room...new possibilities for a photo collage. I stayed up way too late prepping stuff for Singing Time. The idea was to listen to possible songs for the Primary Program, see what the kids know. It took forever to figure out how to "download" songs from YouTube, which is not possible. I figured out how to screen record the songs not found on the Primary page. Then come time for Primary things were hectic, the volume was screwy, and we only had 8 minutes for my lesson. Ah well. Trying to roll with the punches is hard!
