Bionic Marching
Our beloved prophet Russell M Nelson went home last night. He will be greatly missed. I was looking forward to hearing his counsel about recent events at General Conference. Now he is in Jesus’ open arms going to work even more joyously than ever. President Nelson once said, “ you don’t wish for a blessing; you work for a blessing and you make it possible.” He said this during his years as a surgeon. It jives perfectly with “the Lord loves effort, and Think Celestial.” Just a few hours later a gunman rammed his truck into a church building and opened gun fire into the meeting. Then set fire to the building.” The world is going crazy. I will say that Charlie’s assassination seemed to start a spiritual revival. I watched part of his celebration of life, a few times Charlie was named as a martyr and a prophet. Yes, he walked in God’s steps and lived a good life. God calls righteous people to testify in his name.
Thursday Reagan had a jog-a-thon during school hours. That means “yay” let’s have the special’s teachers run the event! Hooray. We ran the event for each grade level the entire day. I enjoyed cheering on the students, running warm ups, and acting silly. I was not feeling well by the end of the day. Come Friday morning I was definitely feeling unwell, seemed like a cold was chasing me. I could hardly sleep all night because my face felt like it was one fire, darn it! Another gross sinus infection was brewing. Saturday I was out-of-it on the couch or in bed for the entire day, only awake for about 2 hours out of 24. I am feeling a bit more human today, at least the throbbing pins and pain are greatly reduced.
Justin trimmed up both puppies with Everett’s help. They look so cute now. Marching band had their first major competition on Saturday. They placed 2nd overall! The band travels to Utah next week for the annual band competition at USU. I am so proud of all Phillip is doing to support the band. On other fronts Justin and I are looking for a counselor or tutor who can help Phillip be a better student. His history class is about to put us under. He spent 3 hours just finding 3-4 quotes and filling out a paper outline for a 5 paragraph essay. The essay is not even started beyond the first two sentences, because those were already completed by the teacher. Something has to change. In my mind, it’s not worth ruining his self-esteem because he struggles with writing.
