Idaho Falls Spring Break
There are moments in life that deeply mark in which direction we are headed, moments filled with eternity. Justin and I got to witness Amelia making sacred covenants in her own endowment this weekend. She took a large step toward her Heavenly Father and Savior. Witnessing her stand in the Celestial room with us was an experience for the ages. The real work is still ahead but the past nearly 19 years is a testament of Amelia’s choices and desires bringing her to the temple making her own endowment covenants for the only time. The rest of her life temple work will be a reminder of the covenants she made that day. It was a wonder to stand with Grandpa and Grandma Lance in Idaho Falls Temple! Amelia’s two roommates, Tamsin and Abby were also with our group. The Idaho Falls temple has three endowment rooms to move through instead of the newer temples where you stay in one room.
We drove up Friday evening after Justin was done with work and Everett played in his first tennis match. We picked up Amelia from Rexburg then drove back to Idaho Falls where our Airbnb was located. It was a late night for everyone. Amelia and I needed to be at that temple by 10 am so Amelia could get instructions and her own initiatories. After the temple experience we picked up the kids and took everyone to lunch at a delicious Mexican restaurant. Mom and Dad left back for home after lunch. We stopped at Deseret Book to get Amelia set with garments and temple clothing. Justin was not feeling well so I dropped him off at the Airbnb, the rest of us went shopping to the DI and then the mall. Amelia found some really cute blouses and dresses for her mission. We were beat down tired by the time we left the mall after 7:30 pm. I picked up chicken nuggies and fries for a very late dinner.
Sunday we attended Amelia’s student ward. I forgot how quiet church is without little kids! It was ward conference! Her Bishop gave an amazing talk about a very difficult time he had where he almost took his own life. The story was so personal, he testified that telling the story was not his original intention, someone needed to hear it. We picked up some food at Panda Express for lunch/dinner. Justin wanted to drive over to Parker, ID to see his Grandparents house and land. We stopped at the cemetery where we visited the graves of the Crapo family. Cemeteries are a really fun place to collect strange and interesting names. My favorite was Theron…or “The Ron.” The Rognon family said we could stop by for a visit. Michelle Rognon is a friend from our Nebraska days. Catching up with their family was a nice perk of visiting Rexburg. We dropped of Mia and said our goodbyes for the next month. She had homework and needed some rest after being with her rambunctious siblings. We walked the riverwalk admiring the falls that give Idaho Falls its name. It was quite cold and blustery the entire weekend. We all had flashbacks to Nebraska wind.
School last week was brutal with daylight savings. I literally fell asleep Tuesday morning on my computer lab floor before school even started. Drool. Students were equally exhausted. We counted down the days to Spring Break minute by minute. I had student working in Adobe Express making design projects using AI and design theory.
Evelyn started tennis this week at EVMS. She is excited to play with Mrs Izatt as her coach. Both Everett and Evelyn are sporting tired and sore legs/arms whiled their muscles get used to playing again. Everett had his first match on Friday, he is playing both singles and doubles at this point on the JV team. Everett said one of the teams they played only had girls so he wasn’t able to play.
Josie is struggling to memorize Bill Cheatum, she can play it quite well but if she stops cannot pick up the song without restarting that entire section. She’s had more than a few tears lately, especially when I have her repeat a section until it’s correct. I am practicing songs to play for our ward Easter program, she can hear how many times I repeat each section until the bugs are worked out.
