Tennis Districts
Everett had his final tennis meets this week. He came down with a moderate runny nose and cold just in time for districts. Poor kid was barely able to breathe! About an hour before his meet he texted asking me to run his inhaler over because his asthma was acting up. It was hot and uncomfortable to boot! He played a really good match 2-6 in spite of his technical difficulties. He came home and slept all of Saturday and the rest of the Friday. I’m proud of him for sticking to his commitments.
Wednesday was Girl’s Camp kickoff! The theme is Tangled. The YCLs sang at “I See the Light” to some ukulele strums I managed to eke out. The girls sounded lovely. The girls also got to decorate and send off floating lanterns as part of the evening. That was really fun. Sister Potter decorated the cutest cupcakes, almost too cute to eat, almost.
Wednesday evening I got an email from Mr Obert saying there was a shortage of substitutes at the district level. I walked into school at 8 am and was met by Mr Obert, he reported 12 teachers were absent that day. Guess what? I got to walk the playground with an entire grade at one time for 50 minutes per grade. It was a very loooong day. Justin dropped off the shade canopy and some lawn chairs, ironically, the students used it more than I got to. There are too many shenaigans going on for sitting. One student was spitting on the girls. I asked him to climb down and have a chat with me, he was very defiant, climbed higher and stuck out his tongue. I called for back up and had him removed from the playground. Stinker. I felt very grateful for sunscreen, my umbrella, and a very nice spring day. I tried ordering a Route 44 Cherry Limeade from the front office, they laughed…me too…mostly. My feet hurt so much by the end of the day. Evelyn and Josie treated me to an ice cold foot bath and spa. Justin and Mia went to Sonic and got me a Cherry Limeade. Then I went to bed at 7 pm, just to rest my bones.
Thursday morning we freaked out when one of the 4 dogs we have pooped out round worms. Justin thought it was angel hair spaghetti, nope, those noodles were wriggling. I called the vet and they were able to get the puppies in Friday morning. That turned out to be a blessing since they also got their first round of shots along with dewormer. The vet sent me home with extra doses for Fergus and Maisie, gotta treat the entire clan. The puppies got to spend an hour with me on the playground at school, that was a nice socializing moment for them.
Saturday we finally celebrated Josie’s birthday a few months late, and Amelia’s more recent birthday with lunch teppanyaki style. Delicious. Josie loved the chicken, said it was second best to Bonchon. That’s high praise from Josie. Amelia really wanted a journal style Book of Mormon so we stopped at Seagull book. She found a journal book and a cute dress. I also found a darling blue-striped dress! So fun. We chased down the meal with raspberry shakes from Arctic Circle. Jennifer Gingerich came over for dinner and a quiet evening talking over crafts. I made PF Changs lettuce wraps for dinner. The boys were off at a Priesthood BBQ so it was just the girls and a sick Everett. We each had different crafts to work on while we just enjoyed a quiet evening. I got to work on my flower bouquet crochet blanket. It’s coming along nicely.
Amelia graduated from Seminary this evening. The Stake had a nice fireside for all the graduates. I loved the 5-word testimony presentation where each graduate wrote down their testimony in 5 words or less. That touched my heart. Onward and upward!
