Tennis Pirates

We carved out a space for Amelia in the loft. Everett kindly gave Amelia the room back and parked it right in the middle of the loft for a week. I couldn’t take it, the loft already gets cluttered so adding Everett to the mix was over the top. We made a tiny closet space for Amelia in Evelyn’s doll area. It’s just wide enough for a twin mattress so that’s where she’s at! I cleared out most of the cubes so Amelia could put her clothes, makeup, and etc in the same space. We need to figure out where to store all her boxes for the next 20 months. Amelia spent a day working on the pantry, it was coming out of all the spaces and encroaching into our lives. I gladly paid her for that time. We LOVE having Amelia back home. She is a delight.

McGrath threw a tantrum this week at school…that was entertaining. He was griping about Tyson chicken coming to school during lunch to promote school lunch. Tyson was passing out free samples to the students (and teachers). He was upset because he wanted a table set up in the teacher’s lounge with free food. He was too embarrassed to ask for a sample in the cafeteria, I skipped back in and got him 4 samples! Then right after a zoom meeting from the Benefits representative he stood up and declared, “I think you folks should think long and hard about supporting the tyranny of large corporate health care.” Yes, we all know it’s corrupt, yes, we all hate it, BUT we all need it. Some of us (me) are solely working for that benefit.

The week was relatively rainy. We actually got an inch or two of rain this week which was an answer to prayer. Indoor recess is like the worst, the students were jittery little ants all day, we had indoor recess THREE times out of 4 this week. I spent most of my work day on Friday trying to cut out a sign for the snap circuit wall using my circuit. It was torture but I prevailed. It’s fun to see all my school projects finally coming to fruition.

I finally got to watch Evelyn and Macy play tennis at a home match on Thursday. Watching the “B” team is a riot. It was very cold outside which made for frozen fingers. I think Evelyn hit Macy with the tennis ball more than she hit the ball over the net. She was hitting the ball around the court like it was a ping pong. Apparently, she really can serve the ball over the net, just not while I am watching. Josie rolled up in the coat because it was too cold for her skinny bones.

MCO combined rehearsal was on Thursday night. That means concert night is just two weeks away. At the last moment the rehearsal was pushed back an hour because Brett’s flight was delayed. My favorite song so far is Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho. I love my MCO family. Each week is a fun chance to visit with a stellar group of folks. We had quite a fiasco last concert over two borrowed jumpers that got lost. I’ve been communicating back and forth with central and our local leaders about first locating then second replacing the jumpers. The mom who lent the jumpers to me had thrifted two for her daughter to use in the future. Two singers showed up in size 8 jumpers (the girls were 11 or 12), I had to make a decision to not let them on stage because of their attire. This mom resolved the issue but somehow between the holding rooms and my attire box the jumpers were lost. One of the local ladies heard about the situation and bought two new jumpers and donated them to me (for her). I’ve had several parents email me this week in a panic because they had not even ordered attire and the concert is two weeks away. Never mind the fact that I sent out 4-5 emails about attire. I hope everyone comes on the 30th wearing the correct attire.

We went to watch the play “Pirates of Penzance” Friday evening. Everett is the assistant (in charge of) lighting director. He did a fine job keeping those lights dancing. The play is a silly parody with pirates, leap year birthdays, 10 sisters, and police men. Kept me laughing up a storm! Phillip saw all the fun his two best friends had on stage, now he wants to join theater next year. I hope he does! It is really fun.

We had Stake Conference this weekend. Our ward was asked to sing the song our choir performed for Easter, so Brian and Evelyn sang “A Place in His Arms.” Gave me chills singing the song this time. Justin went on a crusade to find very specific screws needed to secure the light cans in the upstairs ceiling. The chandelier and the dome light both fell out of their mounts, of course the needed screws are incredibly long and skinny. He went to several home improvement stores with no luck.
