Pay Family Reunion

Taking care of a baby red ball
Phillip learned how to do the Indian mouth noise

Our morning was spent jumping on the tramp, eating sausages, and playing at the park. I snuck in a nice walk and a nap for Phillip. We stopped off at Grandma Debbie's home for a couple hours to visit my little brothers, Courtenay, and Mom. Jared is going to DC for 2 weeks to visit a friend, while there he is going to a SCUBA camp...jealous! Jeremy went to trek. Mom has the boys pretty busy all summer. Amelia was very sad to leave her cousins at Aunt Charity's home. She cried until falling asleep. Courtenay is ready to have her baby any day now. John was on his way home from SF selection, his training was cut short so on to plan number 2. Courtenay is glad John is home now and not a day or two before her due date. Amelia showed off her new potty training skills by wetting her pants twice and pooping once. Glad I brought her a change of clothes and shoes. I was exceptionally glad we took some time to drop off my sewing machine for servicing. After 4 years of hard use, it needed some TLC. I think we also jammed in some other shopping at an educational store and two electronics stores.

We had a picnic dinner, ala Cafe Rio, at Draper Park for the annual Pay Family Reunion. Each year those able from the family gather for a BYO picnic. I love getting hugs from Aunt Evelyn. The Aunt's told Justin and I some stories about Phillip's namesake. He apparently attended a funeral. On the way down he spilled fudge sauce all down his nice shirt. The family stopped for a new shirt afraid he'd be suspected of a murder due to the amount of reddish chocolate sauce on his front. Phillip was asked to step in the funeral procession. The procession came and went but no Phillip. His family worried until he arrived with a smile on his face. Phillip got locked in the men's stall and could not get out, he finally climbed over the stall nearly ripping his pants. On the ride home his granddaughter threw up all over his new replacement shirt and suit. Once at home his family asked him how the trip was, he replied that is was wonderful. His daughter reminded him about all the negatives to which he replied, at least I didn't rip my pants! Our little Phillip inherited Great-Grandpa Phillip's happy countenance.

Amelia really wanted to wade in the stream but did not want to dirty her skirt. She ended up pulling her skirt up to her arm pits showing off her underwear. She cracks me up! I had a REALLY bad headache/migraine by the end of the day. Ended up losing my cookies twice due to the severity of headache. Yucky.

Phillip did NOT sleep well the entire vacation. He pulled 2-4 hour awake times each night. Letting him fuss and cry to sleep was not possible because he kept waking up Mia and our room vented unto the other rooms. I felt like a bear by the time it came to return home. Vacationing with small kids is not so fun when they just can't duke it out at the top of their lungs. Amelia had potty issues if we forgot her Elmo potty and when she got too busy to tell me about her needs. For the first time I actually used all the outfits packed for her. LOL.
